Along for the ride

We are at the craft store for the 43rd time this week. Birthday party prep is so much work! *But totally worth it. My girl has been a TROOPER. Here she is in the ribbon isle...happy as a clam!
Mmm....cardboard.

Sea Life

We went to the Sea Life Aquarium last week with Uncle Kyle, Aunt Kiki and cousins Liam and Avery. Very fun! Deal Chicken recently had the annual pass on sale for 50% off so we all had to snatch up the deal. The kiddos had fun, and it was nice to walk around in the cool air conditioning.

Taking photos in the sharks mouth. Not as easy as you'd think!

Someone was mesmerized by all the teeth.

It's a miracle!

Now, I know most of you will be shocked to know that I color my hair. I always request the "natural blonde" look when I get my hair did so I
completely understand how you might think this 'do is au naturel.

Anywho, after highlighting it year after year, my hair is pretty rank. It takes me 10-15 minutes of full upperbody cardio to brush out the 10 bajillion knots. I've tried different shampoos and conditioners, but none seem to make much of a difference. I had been hearing a lot of talk about a certain leave in conditioner, but never pulled the trigger. It's kind of really expensive and I have definitely downgraded my beauty products since being a stay at home mommy. (see: Suave, Up&Up, etc.) Well even though the bottles say "Compare to...[insert more expensive brand here]" in this case, my leave in just wasn't comparing. Feel me?

So I bit the bullet and bought this little miracle in a bottle.

No, really...it's a miracle! It cut my 10 minute battle with the brush down to 2 minutes or less after using it ONE time. One time! Hair Gods...you've really done it this time. It's a 10!

Look how much she has changed!

More blueberries, please!

Enough, enough!

Resolutions

Clearly I'm bad at sticking to my new year resolutions. I don't think I've made it to Heidi Klum status just yet and I definitely haven't been blowing up this blog with clever thoughts and stories. While I would looove to strutt my stuff down a runway while Seal JT or Adam Levine serenades me, I think I will focus on the latter. So, here I am, ready to blog my heart out for y'all.

So with that, I think it's kind of hilarious to reread my previous posts... All three of them :p I was pretty darn excited about Soph rolling over. I mean, insanely excited. Now that we are days away from her 1st birthday, I think about all the amazing things she has done since then. Crawling, talking, dancing... Crazy! Amazing stuff, for sure.

In other news, my hubby Omar graduated from nursing school, passed his state boards and landed a great job as an ER nurse at a local (see: 45 min drive) hospital. Couldn't be more thrilled for him! He worked so hard and now he is what he dreamt to be. Not to get all mushy, but it swells my heart to see my guy so happy. And a man in scrubs... Awhh Laawwd.

Anywho, this is just the beginning of quality funny easy reading material. To new beginnings! (Again.)

We have a roller!

Ahh! I definitely feel like a proud parent right now. After weeks WEEKS of watching Sophie try so hard to roll over, she has finally done it! She is able to roll from her back to her tummy and has been doing it for the last 2 days now. The only blunder is that Sophie despises playing on her tummy so it is a continuous cycle of her rolling over and me flipping her back over before she goes to full meltdown mode.

However, when she is on her tummy, it seems like she is now trying to crawl. Her legs make the proper motion, but her arms still need some help. So exciting!

Omar and I were so so proud of our growing girl, we were like cheerleaders at the Super Bowl! Can't imagine what we'll be like when she graduates from college. :p

In other exciting news, Sophie has slept so well the last few days! Going down at around 9, waking at 4:30 to nurse, and back to sleep til 8:30. My goodness does it feel good to sleep! Now if only I would go to bed when she does...need to do that. ANNNND she took a 3 hour nap yesterday! WHOA it's amazing how much I can get done with a cup of coffee and a napping babe. For the 1st time in 4 1/2 months, I actually completed my to-do list. This is progress, people!

Sophie's 4 month checkup

My big girl turned 4 months on December 27th so yesterday we went to see Dr. Matsumoto at TLC Pediatrics. LOVE this doctor, by the way. She is super sweet, very relaxed and was a 'Top Doc' in Phoenix Magazine. She congratulates me at each appointment for continuing to nurse Sophie, tells us we are doing a great job with our little babe, and always explains what she's checking for and why. Love it!

Anyways, Sophie weighed in at 14.5 oz (50-75 percentile) and a whopping 26" (95 + percentile!). We were in awe at her length...no wonder she's wearing 9 month pants now! Dr. M agreed that my girl is definitely teething and her lower two teeth are starting to move up.

Soph also had to get 2 shots :( I know that immunizations are important and all, but it is so darn hard to watch my baby get so upset. I felt like she was giving me the evil eye all day because of it. She'll thank me if Diphtheria decides to make a comeback though :p

Mommy loves you, sweet angel!

Hello Blog World!

So i'm really doing it...entering the cyber world and starting a blog! Yippee! I've decided that with the start of 2012, this is the perfect time to start documenting all of the memories i'm creating with my wonderful husband Omar, beautiful daughter Sophie, and cuddly pup Bella. I can't promise perfection, especially grammatically (despite those journalism and teaching degrees *gasp!), but I can promise a little bit of fun and laughs along the way. So welcome friends! I hope you enjoy my life as a twenty something mommy:)
